• I am Stafford Burrowes, and together with my wife Marilyn, we operate Dolphin Cove, a water-based tour operation in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. We had this great idea in 1991, and making it a reality was quite a challenge. We started by just fantasizing about it, then we decided to make things happen. In 1999, we opened our doors with just 4 dolphins and 22 employees, and Dolphin Cove was an instant success. We grew ten-fold within a few years, and today, Dolphin Cove is a hit! Plus, we extend our services to major community organizations such as Friends of the Sea in St. Ann, for which I am the director. Marilyn is the president of the Association of Jamaica Attractions, Ltd., as well as a board member for the Tourism Product Development Company.

Dolphin Cove, Ltd.

Remember that dream you had of swimming with the dolphins in a breathtaking, exotic location? Dolphin Cove can make it come true.

In fact, they’ve been making dreams a reality since 1999. Sprawling across a natural cove on the Caribbean ocean where the forest meets the coast, Dolphin Cove offers a unique experience to swimmers. Not only are you able to come in contact with these amazing mammals, but you can interact with them in their natural environment. Dolphin Cove offers different levels Dolphin interaction programs: the “touch encounter,” where you make friends with your dolphin from a platform in the shallow waters, and the “encounter swim,” where you wade in the deep with the dolphins. You can even get a kiss from your new pal!

Dolphin Cove’s 14 dolphins are cared for by a team of professionals who all believe that their “health and welfare are the most important aspects of the operation.” That’s why Dolphin Cove provides the dolphins with an in-house vet, two on-call leading marine mammal vets, and an onsite lab. Plus, Dolphin Cove harbors numerous other exotic Caribbean animals on site, including eels, stingrays, macaws and other tropical birds, fish and reptiles.

Dolphin Cove hosts approximately 250 staff members in various departments, including front office staff, trainers and tour guides, all trained and experienced in their field. But the key component to Dolphin Cove’s success is their excellence in the hospitality industry and their passion for dolphins. This, added to their sense of professionalism and their dedication, puts them on top of list for swimmers and dolphin.
